Ukrainian society can always use a good social initiative – in the sphere of education, in particular. There are young people with bright minds who are full of splendid ideas and projects that they have no chance of accomplishing on their own. Luckily, there are people and organizations who can help them out. Today, we take a look at some of the most exciting social education initiatives in Ukraine in the past year:
SMART FUTURE
Smart Future (or Rozumne Maybutne in Ukrainian) is an initiative that aims at children from the economically challenged background. It offers these children IT-specialized education. Children as young as 8 years old are welcome to apply. Until they turn 14, they would be learning the basics of the Internet, hardware and software administration. They also get the opportunity to train other skills – such as memory, concentration, communication, etc. Around the time when the student turns 14, s/he starts to receive more specialized training – in a particular coding language, in testing, in front-end development, etc. Smart future is a long-running initiative. It has already helped over 200 children.
BESTROBOFEST
This is Max Polyakov and his Association Noosphere’s tech fest. It takes place in Dnipro and is basically a DIY fair with awards. What makes it special is that the organizers always stress that this is a family event, thus giving way to the youngest tech enthusiasts. Mr Polyakov believes that it is up to the now-children to restore the industry in Ukraine, so he is zealous to organize or to help organize an initiative like this one. VERNADSKY CHALLENGE
This initiative also comes from Association Noosphere. It is named after Max Polyakov’s greatest source of inspiration – Vladimir Vernadsky’s works (as one may guess from the name 'Noosphere’). It rotates around the belief that all knowledge should belong to humanity and work for its benefit. In pursuit of this belief, Vernadsky challenge, organized by Max Polyakov, offers significant material and other aid to contestants who come up with ground-breaking and game-changing engineering projects. In 2017, the winner got financing in the amount of UAH 2,000,000 to proceed with the development of the startup.
